The house is accessible via a paved road, so even with an ordinary rental car you'll drive right up to the door without any worries. Alcaucín is a white mountain village in the Axarquía, the green hinterland of the eastern Costa del Sol. The village is just five minutes from the house. You'll find a small supermarket for your daily shopping, as well as several bars and restaurants where you can sit down among the locals for tapas or a long Spanish lunch.

The house lies at the foot of the Sierra Tejeda, right by the entrance to the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama nature park. Hikers are perfectly placed here. Trails lead from Alcaucín straight into the mountains, from a gentle walk among the pine trees to the demanding climb of La Maroma, which at over 2,000 metres is the highest peak in the province of Málaga.

The Lake of Viñuela, visible from the house, is a lovely spot for a walk along the shore or a picnic by the water. Around the lake you'll find small villages where life still moves at a relaxed pace and where you can eat very well for very little.

Fancy a day by the sea? It's just a 30-minute drive to the beach at Torre del Mar. There you'll find a wide sandy beach, a long promenade, and beach bars grilling sardines over wood fires. Nerja, Frigiliana and the city of Málaga also make great day trips.
